Darke County Special Olympics (DCSO) supports more than 200 athletes across the county year-round, providing sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The site needed to make three things effortless: registering an athlete, signing up to volunteer, and giving a donation. We rebuilt it from the ground up around the organization's guiding principle — Unity, Triumph, Friendship.
What we built
A fully responsive site that puts the athletes and their stories first. Every one of DCSO's six sports — Basketball, Track & Field, Bowling, Softball, Power Lifting, and Unified Golf — has its own page with a season schedule, coach contact, and a direct registration form. Volunteers and donors each get their own dedicated paths so they're never more than a click from the action they came to take.
Highlights
Six sport pages with their own schedules and registration forms
One-click donate and volunteer paths from every page
Events section with a featured spot for the 30-year Basketball anniversary
Photo-first layout — the athletes are the design
Built to be edited by DCSO staff, not developers — schedules and rosters update in minutes
Outcome
DCSO has a public face that matches the program itself: warm, inclusive, and easy to engage with. Registration links go straight to families; donation calls-to-action are visible without scrolling; volunteers can see exactly where they're needed.
