Did you know Ikea has tons of products that can be personalized? Walking through Ikea, we found so many items waiting to be engraved with custom images and text. We picked up a bamboo serving tray that was perfect for an engraved image of our solar system.
Why this piece
Bamboo takes laser engraving beautifully — a warm, contrast-rich burn against the lighter wood, no stain or finish needed afterward. The tray was already a finished, food-safe piece in its own right; we just added something nobody else has. The composition wraps the Sun and all eight planets around the surface, with orbital paths in their real relative order (not to scale — Pluto fans, we hear you).
